Conference Information
Since its launch in 2016, the IFIP WG 5.15 International Conference on Information Technology in Disaster Risk Reduction (ITDRR) has steadily developed into a key global forum for advancing interdisciplinary research on IT supported disaster risk reduction. Across previous eleven conferences, ITDRR has consistently featured peer reviewed research addressing natural hazards, crisis informatics, emergency management technologies, and sociotechnical disaster risk reduction challenges, publishing revised selected papers with Springer as part of the IFIP AICT series.
Authors are invited to submit high-quality papers addressing, but not limited to, the following topics*:
- Advanced ICT for disaster management (IoT, edge computing, 5G/6G in crisis zones)
- Artificial Intelligence and disasters (explainable AI, generative models for forecasting)
- Climate change and disaster risk (tipping points, compound events)
- Community resilience and participatory technologies
- Climate information management and open data ecosystems
- Cloud/edge computing in emergency management
- Command, control, and coordination systems
- Crowdsourcing, digital volunteers, and citizen science
- Data analytics, visualisation, and decision support
- Digital transformation in emergency management
- Disaster information processing and semantic interoperability
- Disaster prevention, mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery
- Disaster vulnerability and risk assessment mapping (multi-hazard, transboundary)
- Disaster monitoring and early warning systems
- Disaster information management systems
- Disaster communications (resilient networks, satellite backhaul)
- Emerging technologies for DRR (robotics, UAVs, digital twins, quantum sensing)
- Ethical, legal, and social implications of disaster tech
- Geographic Information Systems and remote sensing
- Hazard and vulnerability analysis (including systemic and cascading risks)
- ICT challenges in emergency management (interoperability, scalability)
- Integrated risk governance and multi-stakeholder platforms
- Mobile computing and emergency management apps
- Pandemic and health-emergency informatics
- Security, privacy, and trust in disaster management
- Simulation, gaming, and serious games for DRR training
- Situation awareness and Common Operational Picture2
- Social media analytics and misinformation countermeasures

The conference will honour excellence in full-paper submissions through the Best Paper Award and the Best Student Paper Award.
ITDRR2027 Practitioner Track: ICT for Preparedness and Resilience
The ITDRR 2027 conference offers an expansion of its scope by introducing a sub-track, Practitioner Track on ICT for Preparedness and Resilience. This sub-track acknowledges the evolving global need for integrated resilience solutions that bridge disaster risk reduction, preparedness and protection operations during emergencies. The new sub-track invites contributions on information and communication technologies for protecting people as well as critical infrastructure, for resilience of our society.
Practitioners are invited to submit high-quality short papers to be published in conference proceedings* addressing, but not limited to, the following topics:
- ICT for Whole-of-Society Resilience
- Population Protection Systems and Preparedness Platforms
- Critical Infrastructure Protection
- Cyber Resilience
- Self-Protection ICT
- Human Factors, Behaviour, and Decision-Making in Emergency
- Strategic Foresight
- Risk Anticipation
- Scenario Planning
- CBRNE and Hybrid Threats
- Preparedness Education
- Information Sharing for Resilience
- Preparedness ICT for Vulnerable Populations
- Community Preparedness and Participatory Resilience
- Civil Preparedness
*Revised selected short papers will be published with Springer as part of the IFIP AICT series.
The conference will honour excellence in practitioner-paper submissions through the Best Practitioner Paper Award.
ITDRR2027 Poster Track
Poster presentation abstracts on all topics related to ITDRR will be accepted for ITDRR 2027. For Poster Track on-site presentation is required; online presentation will NOT be accepted. The poster session will not be held in a hybrid format. The program committee will review the submitted abstract for relevance and appropriateness. Accepted poster abstracts and posters will not be included in the conference proceedings.
At least one author must register at the author rate (or the student rate for student authors) and attend the conference to present the poster. At least one registration per poster is required. The author of each poster shall be asked to give a brief introduction (up to three minutes) to the poster. An A0-sized board will be provided for each poster in the conference room. Outstanding poster contributions will be recognised through two awards: the Best Poster Award and the Best Student Poster Award.
